Start of a brand new year and we are already looking forward to a slew of exciting activities in alpha@wefc. Our church, WEFC, has started on packing and preparing to move out of our current premises so that the old building can be torn down and a new one gets built in its place. Lots of challenges ahead of us but looking forward to the excitement!
Meanwhile, on to our first post for the year 2010..
A teacher friend once made this observation about Singaporean students – they usually have no questions during Q&A but after a lecture, these same students would crowd around the speaker with a host of questions that they were too shy to ask publicly.
Many of us are like those students. We have questions that we are too embarrassed to ask publicly because we fear looking ignorant in the eyes of our peers, fear being admonished by others for our “lack of faith,” or are concerned that we may be hauled up by one of the church pastoral staff or church elders for “counseling” because of those questions.
I have recently encountered questions such as:
“Did Jesus really have an affair with Mary Magdalene as proposed in The Da Vinci Code?”
“Isn’t Christianity only one of the many roads to God?”
“Why did God have to go through all the trouble of Jesus dying for our sins and all that? Just remove the tree in the Garden of Eden!”

It seems like we only started the Alpha Course yesterday. Yet, in a blink of an eye, the end of the 8 week run is upon us. Time seems to have passed so quickly.
Here are some highlights from alpha@wefc 2009/02.

Many thanks to those who volunteered to help out at the Alpha Course as well as those who attended. Most of all, thank you Heavenly Father for giving us this opportunity to share your love for us with others. Indeed, you are the Everlasting God.
