A Vision of God – Priscilla K

.

Blessed With a Vision

I first went to the “Jesus Saves Mission” when I was about 11. The church meetings took place in a small shophouse somewhere near Kim Tian Road. Since that time, my christian life had been like a roller coaster ride especially as I was the first one in the family to accept Christ. I had a vision when I was 12 where I believe I saw the Lord in his glory coming down from the clouds surrounded by angels complete with high roaring waves. I shared this with my then Pastor who told me I had been blessed to have experienced this but I could not understand why it had happened to me. Later, during a week-long camp organised by that church, I felt a prompting to be baptized. I did so and was christened Priscilla by the Pastor.

I had an arranged marriage and was expected to follow my husband’s Hindu faith and went to temples religiously with my family. Though that was happening for many years, I realised I never had spiritual fulfillment . This continued for years until my divorce about 8 years ago. Whilst going through that bad patch, I seeked the Lord, started going back to church and made a decision to stay on. There has been no turning back ever since. I have been attending WEFC for 2 years now with my son Suren who was also baptized in this church more than a year ago.

Alpha Beginnings

When I initially signed up for the Alpha course, I did not know what to expect except that I knew there were going to be dinners thrown in! (Just kidding about going because of the free dinners!!)

The Alpha Course was an eye-opener for me. The biblical concepts explored in the talks Pastors Shern, Ivan and Kenny gave were something that budding or new christians could easily grasp and appreciate. I enjoyed interacting with Irene, Karen and other group members. Not once did I feel out of place. I looked forward to coming to these classes.

After the course ended, I started thinking about joining a care group as I knew that it was vital for us as Christians to walk the journey with Christ. I was even more touched when Irene and Karen called me from time to time asking after me. They encouraged me to join a care group where we could come together to not only share the bible knowledge but to pray for each other. The group discussion with other members also helped me to clear some doubts about whether some things we do are actually right in the eyes of the Lord. The Alpha Retreat was a bonus when discussions about the Trinity were further explained by the speakers.

My Motivation and My Desire

Inspired by this, I would motivated to bring others to an Alpha Course as it will benefit them as it did to me. More importantly, it is my strongest desire to involve my eldest son, Kishore, to be a part of this and hope that he too, will walk the journey with us as a family. During my daily interactions and where I have opportunities, I share this with my fellow colleagues and friends to come and experience this for themselves. I know that the Lord will give me his blessings as I take opportunities to share this with others.

May God bless each of you and your families.
