Resources Behind A Successful Alpha
The alpha@wefc steering group defines a successful Alpha Course as being a Course that allows its guests to participate and ask questions freely so that answers based on Biblical truths can be explored. We serve as God’s sowers (Luke 8:4-15 NASB) and it is the Holy Spirit who will nurture the seed that is planted in our guests. We rejoice even more if any of our guests are touched by the topics being discussed or are moved by the Holy Spirit to come to know God as their personal Lord and Saviour.
Professional event organizers will tell you that a lot of planning, resources and working behind the scenes go into making any organized event successful. An Alpha Course is no different.
Because of the length of a typical Alpha Course, organizing one requires the commitment of not just the church but the people who are involved.

The individual contributors that form a typical alpha@wefc Working Group responsible for the smooth running of an Alpha Course would typically consist of the following:
Steering Group – is responsible in steering the Alpha Ministry in WEFC and forms the advisory group to each Alpha Working Group.
The Facilitator – People who are trained to facilitate a group of up to 12 people (including facilitators and helpers). Leads the group and facilitates the discussion in the group about the topic of the evening and the issues that may arise from it. The facilitator gives people the opportunity to respond to what they have heard and the forum to ask questions.
The Host of the Evening – leads in the briefing and prayer meeting 30 minutes before the start of each Alpha evening and makes announcement(s).
The Helper - Helpers play hosts to the guests and make them comfortable at meal times and discussion times. They play an important role in befriending our guests. Helpers are recruited from the group of people who have invited their friends, colleagues and acquaintances to the Alpha Course.
The Speaker – gives a talk in lieu of the Alpha video on the various topics.
The Logistics Team – is responsible for the general organization and logistics of each evening’s Alpha session. They prepare the meeting venue and plan the sumptious meals.
The Prayer Coordinator – compiles prayer pointers from the team and copies the Prayer Ministry. The coordinator also leads the prayer time before each evening’s Alpha session.
The Prayer Team – comprises of the Speaker, Facilitators and the Host who pray regularly individually and as a team for the Alpha Course and its individuals before each evening’s session. Constant and specific prayer is one of our most effective tools in Alpha.
