Benefits of Alpha
Changed lives. Growing congregations. United church leaders
The Alpha Course is a tool for evangelism. It empowers other ministries by providing them with another alternative to the range of activities planned.
The Alpha Course provides opportunities for its participants, Christian or non-Christian alike, to articulate questions that they might be reluctant to ask in a formal church situation. The Alpha Course builds relationships among its participants.
It sparks faith in people outside the church. It kindles the faith of new Christians. And it fuels the commitment of longtime Christians.
The benefits of the Alpha course are abundant.

“The Alpha course has drawn us together, given us a greater passion for evangelism and most importantly drawn us closer to Jesus.” – Anonymous, Alpha Course Leader
“I believe the Alpha Course has recaptured some of Jesus’ own methods of presenting truth to people.” – Peter Koh, Alpha Coordinator, Ang Mo Kio Methodist Church
“Alpha is God’s way of bringing people together to do His work as His servants. Many people are asking about how to serve. But as they run the Alpha Course, they find themselves getting into the flow of things and naturally learning to server as they submit themselves in obedience to the Lord and eagerly seek the success of the Course in touching lives. They learn to cover one another’s weak areas with their strengths, forgive one another in their shortcomings, and exercise patience with love.” – Monica Yong, small group helper
“Our cell members were encouraged to find out that it was not impossible, by God’s grace, to have ‘unlikely’ guests accepting invitations and turning up… We have grown in faith and in dependency on Jesus as we witnessed God’s faithfulness and miracles in answering our prayers when we were at our wits’ end trying to draw in the guests, transform their mindsets, and sustain good and relevant discussions.” – Benny Chey
“We are ‘happily tired’ from running Alpha. And we are looking forward to the next one!” – Alan Choo
“Alpha is quite the most exciting thing I have done in over 40 years as a Christian.” – Anonymous, Alpha course leader
“How I thank God for the work of Alpha! Throughout North America and around the world I hear the stories of lives changed. God is in your midst. I believe He has anointed your work, and the fruit shows.” – Mark Mittelberg, Author of Building a Contagious Church and coauthor of the updated Becoming a Contagious Christian training course.
“Alpha is a soul winning, discipling, multiplying, spiritually dynamic ministry that has already touched the lives of thousands. I believe this vision will continue to expand and truly become an international blessing.” – Loren Cunningham, Co-Founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM)
“Alpha is a well-designed, implementable program that addresses the basic questions of life for the churched and unchurched alike.” – George Gallup Jr, Chairman, The George H. Gallup International Institute
“It’s great to see how Alpha has been used to reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ, who wouldn’t normally come to church. Alpha is one of the most effective evangelism tools for the 21st century … and is very complementary to helping seekers connect with The Purpose Driven Life.” – Dr Rick Warren, Senior Pastor, Saddleback Church, USA.
“Alpha opens the door… for the sharing, caring, praying community which is exemplary of the church in action.” – Dr. Desmond Tutu, Former Archbishop of Cape Town, S.Africa.
“Alpha seems especially blessed in that the Lord is using it to reach all sorts of people in all sorts of spiritual condition.” – Luis Palau, Evangelist.

Although alpha@wefc is a separate ministry within the church, it complements and enables many of our other church ministries in WEFC. The format of an Alpha Course and the concepts it covers is not just useful within a Alpha Course, it can be adapted and applied to any events organized by our Young Adults Ministry, the Ladies and Men’s ministries, our Prisons ministry.. but to name a few. alpha@wefc exists to supplement, and not supplant, our existing ministries.
